Beautiful Kleinwalsertal...

The Austrian mountain valley lies in the middle of majestic peaks, at an altitude of 1,100 to 1,250 metres, at the northern edge of the Alps. The Walsertaler mountains border onto the Lechtaler Alps to the east and south-east; to the north lie the alpine foothills, and the Großer Widderstein (2,536 m) borders onto the Lechquellengebirge/Arlberg and the Bregenzerwald to the south and west. The valley was inhabited in 1270 by Walser, a group of people that had immigrated from Upper Wallis (Switzerland). The dialect has developed an independent character and differs considerably from our neighbours in Vorarlberg and Allgäu. Whilst the Walser people settled along the Breitach river, the side valleys remained pure alpine territory - pristine and untouched. Four mountains are available to you with cable cars. Today, around 5,000 people live in the three villages Riezlern, Hirschegg and Mittelberg, along with Baad. These people primarily work in the tourism industry and look forward to your visit.
